Focused on major unmet medical needs
BioXell is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of novel therapies for major unmet medical needs in urology, inflammation and related disorders. An Italian company based in Milan, BioXell was spun-out from Roche in January 2002. Today the company leverages its expertise in three distinct technological areas to address high-potential medical applications, combining in-house development in core areas and pursuing strategic partnerships to develop and commercialize its drug candidates in non-core indications.

Strong Product Pipeline
BioXell’s lead product candidate, Elocalcitol, is in clinical development for three indications with high unmet medical needs, with a successful Phase IIb trial already completed in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), a Phase IIb trial underway in Overactive Bladder (OAB), and a Phase II trial in a new indication, male infertility, initiated in late 2007. BXL746, another VD3 analogue, will be entering Phase IIa trials in post-surgical adhesions in 2008. Meanwhile, the Company continues to make good progress on its preclinical pipeline, with MNAC13, an innovative new approach to treating pain, on target for entry into humans in 2009. Detailed information is available under product pipeline.

Proprietary Technology
With globally recognised expertise in VD3 chemistry and biology, stemming from years of extensive experience at Roche, BioXell is exploiting its proprietary VD3 technology platform to develop product candidates for new applications, both within the core field of urology and for several non-urological indications.

Product-Oriented Collaborations
BioXell actively pursues attractive product-oriented partnerships in order to acquire or in-license complementary drug candidates within our areas of focus, and to leverage non-core programs into profitable partnerships.

Excellence in R&D
BioXell was built around a world class group of researchers who are recognized experts in their field and who have been working together for many years as part of the inflammation research team at Roche.

Experienced Management Team
BioXell’s international management team is composed of experienced pharmaceutical executives with diverse backgrounds and complementary skill sets in research, development, marketing and finance. They are well positioned to lead BioXell on its mission to become a successful, fully integrated biopharmaceutical company.

Strong Financial Position
In June 2006, BioXell completed a successful IPO on the SWX Swiss Exchange, despite turbulent market conditions. This milestone allowed the Company to raise an additional € 40 m, including the over-allotment option. BioXell’s strong cash balance of € 78 m is being used to support its development programs and expanded pipeline.
